WYANDOT COUNTY HELP ME GROW SERVICES
Help nurture your child’s health and development for success in life. Help Me Grow is a program for Ohio’s expectant parents, newborns, infants and toddlers that provide health and developmental services so children start school healthy and ready to learn. Help Me Grow provides the building blocks for success for Ohio’s families.
Parents and Caregivers
Your are your child’s best authority. Parents are the primary source of nuturing and helping your child grow and learn during the first three years of life. No one know you child better than you. Take control today and invest in your child’s future.
Professionals
Help Me Grow supports many early childhood professionals from a variety of backgrounds. Early childhood professionals link families and children in a collaborative network to meet children’s unique needs.:
- Provide information to new parents about child development;
- Provide information and link parents to available programs and resources;
- Provide early identification of children with developmental delays,
- Provide guidance and available therapeutic interventions;
- Provide screening for children’s nutrition, hearing, vision and overall development;
- Provide literacy training for all parents while supporting them as full partners in their child’s first three years of life.
- Provide Parents As Teachers activities during regularly scheduled home visits.
Eligibility
Any first time parents who contact Help Me Grow will receive an assessment to determine if they are eligible for the program. During this assessment, the Help Me Grow Staff will conduct a developmental screening on the child. Elligible families will also complete family assessments, service coordination and transition planning for preschool. Any parent with concerns about their child’s development.
Referral
The Wyandot County Central Intake and Referral site is housed in the HMG office at 123 E. Walker Street in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
Staff Qualification and credentialing
The Wyandot County Family and Children First Council assures that appropriate and qualified staff carries out HMG responsibilites.
HMG helps to support Ohio’s school readiness goal through strengthening positive family environment of infants and young children.
